xD memory card throws “Card Error”. How to retrieve the photos from it?

When my friend inserted his xD memory card into his new Olympus MJU 300 digital, camera, he got an error message which says “Card Error”. Well, he did a big mistake by formatting his xD card in PC but his camera is fine. I've tested it with working xD card. The xD card is accessible from PC but with the camera it displays “Card Error”. When he tried to format the xD card with the camera, it gives “Card Error” again. I don’t know what to suggest him? Any suggestion from your side will be great.

As xD cards are meant especially for Olympus digital cameras and is a specialized format, so it is possible that while formatting the xD card with PC certain specific parameters of xD card might have erased (as PC would just treat it like any ordinary memory card) which has caused the problem. Other reasons are also possible, and according to me it is better for you to contact the card manufacturer first, if your cards warranty is on. Otherwise use any xD Memory Card Recovery software to retrieve the data quickly or efficiently. It will be best for you.
