Memory card going bad?

I have 2.0 GB Lexar Memory Card that I was using for a year. But yesterday when I turned on the camera to upload some interesting and awesome photos to the PC, the camera had shown me an error message which says the card need to be formatted which would erase all the pictures from it. I thought the error is from the camera but my other are working fine with the same camera, this helps me to conclude that the error or problem is in the Lexar card itself. So is this error normal, and is there any sign or possibility of recovering those pictures from the Lexar memory card?

Why don’t you use your card reader to recover the images on the card? The card reader must be recognizing your 2 GB Lexar card. If it is not responding there also then you are really in a trouble. I am saying this because it is another thing that you can recover the data’s stored in the memory card using any software, which is very much possible but after that you will not be able to use the card again as it is not recognized by any other camera or gadget. So, whatever the reason is just use good Lexar Memory Card Recovery software and get the data back.
