I have been using Olympus SP-510uz with 1GB Olympus xD card “type h” for quite a long time. One day I want to show some pictures of mine to a friend on the PC, but since I don’t have the USB lead, I just put the xD card to the card reader and connected it to the PC. But surprisingly the card reader did not recognize the xD card. When I tried it with some other camera the result was same. So I put the card back in my SP-510 and guess what it also not recognizes the pictures on the card rather giving the option of formatting or canceling only. Have I now lost my photos and is there any way of retrieve them back?

Now a day’s this card reader error is very common and many xD card users are suffering from it. Actually when you put the xD card in to the camera its partition table gets corrupted somehow which causes problems. Also the xD cards have some specific card parameters that when you format or use with ordinary card readers it gets erased as a result corruption is caused. This is very serious issue because it not only corrupts the xD card but also corrupts the data stored in it. As you know lost, formatted or deleted data can be retrieved but corrupted or damaged data’s are not. So, use any Olympus Memory Card Recovery software to retrieve any data stored in the xD card.
