I have a Nikon digital camera called D300. The memory card that is in use is 24 GB Pretec CF 333x. The camera has been working well for the past few months until today. Today what happened is that when I am trying to connect my camera to my system, the computer is unable to read the photos that are there in the memory card. I tried to run the disc utility but it is not able to repair or verify the removable hard disc.

But I am able to capture the photos. The problem arises when I am connecting the camera to the computer. Can anybody what is the possible reason behind this and how can I correct this problem. Any suggestions will be greatly acknowledged.

These days many people are complaining about the problem what you are encountering now. This problem is arising because your memory card is infected with some virus. As you said that you are able to capture photos but the computer is unable to read them. So, first of all you will have to stop taking any additional photos. If you keep on taking photos, the older photos will be rewritten by the newer ones and recovery of the old ones will not be possible.

First of all scan the memory card. If after scanning the memory card, the photos are being read by your computer then it is fine. Otherwise format the memory card. I know formatting the memory card would delete all your photos from the card but don’t worry. Once the memory card is formatted use Pretec Photo Recovery software. The software will automatically recover all your formatted photos through sophisticated algorithm. Afterwards when you connect the memory card to your computer, the computer will read all the photos and your problem is then sorted out.
