I have started using digital camera recently and I don’t know much about it. I am using Nikon Cool Pix camera with 2GB CF memory card. Last night when I was clicking photos, the out of the blue the camera freezed and got hanged. Not a single button was working. I then took the battery out and then inserted it again in the camera. To my horror, the camera was displaying not a single photo? To make matter worse, the displayed photos was not getting saved in the memory card. I then format the memory card and then things got right. Can anybody explain why was such a thing happening and is there a way to get back the formatted photos?

The photos got deleted from your memory card because you removed the battery from the camera when it was on. You should not have done so. Instead you should have waited for a few minutes and your camera would have been okay. But removing the battery from the camera resulted in photo loss from your CF memory card. However, the good thing is that the photos are temporarily erased from your memory card and the you can get back the pictures back from your formatted CF memory card by using a software called CF Card Photo Recovery software. Try using this software and it will recover all your deleted photos.
