after i upload photos to iphoto can i delete them from my desktop?

i have photos in folders on my desktop and i don't want to keep them there, so i uploaded them to iPhoto. will they stay on iPhoto if i delete them from my desktop?

No. iPhoto uses the target files to display them on iPhoto, so if you delete the target files, then iPhoto will not know where to get the pictures.
