I am using 1GB SD memory card on my Hitachi digital camera. There seems to be some kind of problem in the memory card. When I am taking 6-10 photos continuously, I am getting “Unidentified Image” message on my camera. I ignored the card error and continued taking photos. To my horror, the older photos are overwritten by the new ones and I am not able to access the photos. When I am trying to access the older photos, the folder is empty. Is there any software that can recover those lost photos that are overwritten?

Claire 		The memory card shows card error when there is some kind of problem in writing the photos in the memory card. You should not have taken the photos when the memory card was showing card error. When you take a photo, it is stored on several locations of the file system and recovery can be done. Since you asked for a software that can recover the photos, then let me tell you that the recovery is not possible. The photos can be recovered from the memory card as long as the photos are not overwritten. When the photos are overwritten by the newer ones, not a single photo recovery software will be able to recover those lost photos.

However repair of the memory card that you are using on your Hitachi camera is possible. There is a software called Photo Recovery Tool that can repair the corrupted memory card of any digital camera including yours. I use this software for recovering lost photos and repairing damaged photos from my 2GB SD card and it works really fine. Try using it, hope it works with you as well.
